Andrew started his lectureship position in November 2022 and completed his University of York Postgraduate Certificate of Academic Practice (PGCAP) in Summer 2024, gaining Fellowship status from AdvanceHE. This followed on from Andrew's Associate Fellowship gained in 2016 whilst at The University of Edinburgh. Read more about Andrew's teaching accreditations here.
Andrew delivers teaching to stage 2, 3 and 4 undergraduate students within Biology programmes at York, teaches on York's upskilling MSc in Bioinformatics, and supervises capstone projects for BSc, MBiol and PGT Bioinformatics MSc students. We also support omics and statistics teaching as part of continuing professional development and developing further ELIXIR-UK materials.

School outreach
As a STEM ambassador and associate of Simon Baker's ENTHUSE project with the National STEM Learning Centre and York Against Cancer, Andrew is currently helping teachers in multiple secondary skills bring applied research examples and mathematical skills into GCSE and A Level Biology.
